2 AM (BEIJING TIME):
We've seen our first sunrise on this journey - at 8 PM Toronto time !! Our 14 hour flight to Beijing involved aerial tours of Baffin Island (white), the North Pole ( more white), Russia (flat with lumpy spots) and Mongolia ( lots of mountain-y things)- WOW !!! a whirlwind tour of the world in only 14 short hours !! We didn't sleep a wink on the flight, but the actual trip was quite pleasant. There were three other families aboard our flight who are also adopting their children from Maya's province (but different SWI's). We'll travel be plane with them to Nanchang tomorrow (actually it will be 'today '!) around noon. We're going to meet Maya today !!!!!!!!!!
We know we're really here. The signs are in Chinese - but the experience still has a very surreal quality to it. That, plus we're both looped from lack of zzzzzzz's !!. Maybe a morning trip to Starbucks ( a mere 5 minutes from here !) will wake us up!!
Paul and I finally fell asleep (sort of) around 9 PM (Beijing Time - 8 am Toronto). Not bad after 29 hours of wakeful 'bliss' !! Three hours later, and I was up again. So much for our last night of restful sleep before becoming parents. We had planned on coming to China a few days early to try to adjust to the time difference and to fly to Jiangxi in a more relaxed state, but a few of our friends did that and they're still jet-lagged. Ahhh! sleep......make like Calgon and " take me away...".

Thanks for keeping us posted each step of the way! We were so excited to know that you arrived safely however sleepless. Good training for what's to come - You're ready for Baby Time. It's amazing to know that you are actually in China and we can still be almost there with you.

We want to say how happy we are that you got your little bundle of joy Maya, she was ment for both of you,.Take this little angel and keep her close, she was sent to watch over Mummy and Daddy you are blessed..Maya is so adorable can't wait to see her.Congratulation to all three..

It has been wonderful to follow Maya's incredible journey each day. I am looking forward to welcoming my new cousin into our family. Maya has made your stem on the family branch complete, the three of you will make an incredible family and i cant wait to see what happens next!
