During the past few days, I have spent many hours surfing the 'net'. I have been searching for 'adoption' sites, 'China' sites, 'baby referral' sites and many others - all in the hope of finding more information about Maya's birth country. There are thousands of Chinese children adopted each year( over 7,000 in the USA alone !) There are several hundred websites, and thousands of blogs related to 'adoption fom China'. When I have typed in the keywords 'Heng Feng SWI', or 'Heng Feng referrals' etc., the search has always yielded the same results. Today, our results were nothing short of miraculous!
I found a family in the USA who adopted a little girl from Heng Feng in August, 2006. In the family's blog there are MANY entries and many photos of their journey to China. But in particular, there is an entry which describes their daughter Olivia's foster mother:
"...The information stated that her foster mother is Xu Xiang Feng, a sixty-seven year old woman who also cares for another child from the orphanage named Cen Li Tian. I assume that Cen Li Tian is still in her care and I'll be curious to see if I can find who adopts her..." - She already has, I e-mailed her this afternoon !!
Most children who are adopted from China have very little information pertaining to their medical histories, the circumstances which led to their abandonment, etc. It now seems possible for us share much more with our daughter, and we may be able to maintain contact with her foster mother. Words can't begin to express how blessed I feel at this particular moment.

Oh my goodness Angela. What are the chances? That's amazing. You may even get some pictures then eh? Wow - I still can't get over how blessed we all are. I hope she emails you back really soon. Make sure you post on your blog what you find out! I'll be stalking. :)

Our daughter is from Heng Feng! She was born December 30th 2003. We travelled in January 2005 to bring her home.....She is a happy, healthy beautiful girl. Congratulations on your referral! She is a Heng Feng beauty.....

Well like Karen - I'm a stalker :-)
Make sure you post on your blog what you find out. I hope you manage to get more pictures.

Congrats...I have been stalking as well and felt so bad for you having to wait. I can see and tell that the wait was worth every minute of it! She shares the same birthday as our Emma. We will be leaving on Jan 7th. Amy Group 241
Hello Angela! Thank you for your very kind message on our goofy blog. Oh boy, that stroller gets around. Can't believe we've found yet another little room-mate. She's just lovely -- what a great quizzical expression, she's so engaged with the camera! And what an amazing find regarding her foster mother! I've been searching for HengFeng info everywhere (and haven't heard back from the HF yahoo group with approval yet either). Please share as much as you feel comfortable divulging.
We are also struggling with the same dilemma you mentioned (whatever will Samuel & Berkeley think of all this)! In fact, my husband has decided that he's likely going to conserve parental leave and stay home with our lab Grendel (our four-footed "first born"), our cat and the 13 pet chickens (we suspect it will be hard to convince someone to stop by every day to carry water out to the coop every frosty winter morning for 2 weeks)! Of course everyone thinks we're insane to do this, but, well, to be honest we're both feeling great about that decision right now and I'll get to spend some lovely time learning the ropes from a champ - my mother! Of course, we'll see how great I feel about this a week into the trip! Too bad you aren't local, we'd take in your furry ones for the duration!
All our best to you, many congratulations, and I hope we get to know you and your little one along this wonderful journey! ~ Beth
Hi Angela - I cannot believe that you found us! I saw your comment on our website and was not able to find your blog at first, but here I am! I was so curious how you found us. It was ingenious to have done your search that way. I thought for sure you found me through the Heng Feng Yahoo group - which you MUST go join right away as there are 2 other gals who share the same fostermom as us (although their children were not in the home at the same time as ours). Our babies must know each other! I'd love to talk more and fill you in about Jiangxi, what I know about Heng Feng, and how we might establish contact with the girls' foster mom. Be sure to email me back as I've sent an email to your aol address. BTW, feel free to share the link to my blog on your blog if you like so your friends and family can see where you will be going, etc.
Talk soon, Lori
Hi,
I am Lori's mom and Olivia's Grammy. What a great surprise! We are so excited that you found Lori.
Lori was hoping to find Maya. I received the email at work this am.
All my coworkers have followed the
journey closely. I am sure Maya will be as well loved and cared for
as Olivia.
I will be following your journey.
All best wishes.
